Big Lunch - like the Royal Wedding - but with no excuse

The Big Lunch is a new campaign supported by credit card provider MasterCard aimed at bringing neighbourhoods closer together.

Devised and promoted by the Eden Project in Cornwall, ‘The Big Lunch’ aims to bring neighbourhoods and communities across the UK closer together simply by encouraging people to organise and host their own open-air lunches on Sunday 19 July.

MasterCard is launching a new ‘Priceless’ advertising campaign based around the idea, which will hit our TV screens in May. Other companies backing the project are the Post Office, EDF Energy and Royal Mail.

The Big Lunch campaign aims to get us all interacting with our neighbours and open our eyes to our local area. But how much do you know already about where you live?

By using the free Check your Postcode service on checkmyfile, you can find out a huge amount of information about your postcode area, as well as the people who live there, including:

  • The average credit rating
  • What newspapers people read
  • The ethnic mix
  • Social classifications (are you an AB or a D?)
  • What kind of jobs people have, and how they get to work
  • The average house prices and housing types
  • How many people own cars
  • How it looks from a satellite (did you remember to tidy the garden?)

You can look up any postcode in the UK. No record of your search is made as all of the information is in the public domain. You can compare how your own area rates in comparison to celebrities, including Madonna, Wayne Rooney and even the Queen. The Check Your Postcode service is completely free and you can search as many times as you like.

If you disagree with the information, you can feed that back to us and we’ll pass your comments back to the data owners so they can revise their databases at their next annual review.
