Keep an eye on your ex

Haven’t talked to your ex in over a month or more? Wondered what he’s up to? Even checked Facebook to see if his relationship status is still single and wondered secretly if your paths may cross again?

They may just do that but not in the way you would think. You could be financially associated with your ex and he could be bringing your credit score down.

Opening a joint account or a mortgage with a partner will create a ‘financial association’ between you. Both of your credit histories could be displayed to lenders when either of you applies for credit in the future even after you've split. This could affect your credit score depending on whether your partner’s credit history is better or worse than yours.

By monitoring your credit report from checkmyfile, you can identify who you are ‘financially associated’ with and get them removed from your credit report. You can do so by contacting us and we’ll advise you on the next steps you should take. However, if you do still want to take a sneaky peek at what he’s up to, and there’s no harm in finding out if your ex has moved up in the world or if property prices in his area have boomed or crashed, or even knowing what kind of lifestyle he has now.

Check his postcode on our free postcode finder and we’ll tell you about the people who live within the area, the average credit rating, house prices, employment status and much more. There’s no limit on use and no record is held of your search. It’s entirely free and confidential and you can search as many postcodes, on as many ex partners as often as you like.

And while you’re there why not compare your ex’s neighbourhood with those of Hugh Grant, Jude Law or Richard Hammond. It’s free and fun, maybe a little bit naughty, but no one will ever know.
