CIFAS Case Type

Definition of 'CIFAS Case Type'

Two CIFAS Case Types may appear on your credit report.

Protective Registration – which appears for 12 months after you have purchased this service from CIFAS or indirectly through another provider.

Victim of Impersonation - if you have been a victim of identity fraud and if your lender has filed this type of CIFAS warning for your own protection.

Case Types are categories of fraud warning that are used by CIFAS members to help identify impersonation attempts and other types of fraud. Other information that can be included on credit files for lenders to view relates to instances of fraud, deception or the exaggeration of application form details. If you wish to see all of the information that CIFAS holds about you, you will need to make a Subject Access Request to CIFAS.
