We know there can be a lot of paperwork involved in life’s big moments, especially if your name has changed by deed poll or you’ve recently got married or divorced. But updating your name on your Checkmyfile account couldn’t be easier – you just need to follow these simple steps:

Mobile

Step 1 – Click on your initials at the top-right of the page.

Step 2 – Scroll down until you see the name field, then click ‘Change name’.

Step 3 – Select the name from the drop-down list that you want to update your account details to.

Step 4 – Click ‘Submit’.

Desktop

To locate the 'Details' tab on a desktop, you'll need to click on your initials at the bottom, left-hand side of the page. Then follow step 2.

The updated name will be searched to return your credit report information going forwards.

What should I do if the name I want to use isn’t on the list?

If you’ve only recently changed your name, and updated your lenders and local council, you should see this filter to your credit report naturally. That will automatically create the alias link on your credit report.

It’s best to wait up to six weeks for the alias to show before trying to update the name on your Checkmyfile account. But if you do need this done sooner, let us know and our customer care team will be pleased to help.
