Your credit score is an indication of your overall credit health. The higher your score, the better your chances of being accepted for credit, with better rates and terms. Your Checkmyfile score is calculated using data from the three main UK credit reference agencies: Experian, Equifax, and TransUnion.

Your credit score is a number that helps indicate how reliable you are at borrowing and repaying money based on how you’ve previously managed credit. While lenders can’t see your credit score, it can help you see how lenders might view you when you apply for credit.

There are many factors that affect your credit score, including: whether you pay your credit repayments on time, being registered on the Electoral Roll, recent credit applications, any CCJs or court information on your file, and how much of your available credit you’re using.

There’s no universal credit score in the UK. Each credit reference agency (CRA) has its own score range and method for calculating your number. At Checkmyfile, our credit scores are calculated out of 999. Experian has a maximum score of 1250, while Equifax is 1000, and TransUnion is 710.

At Checkmyfile, we calculate your credit score using data from Experian, Equifax, and TransUnion. You’ll also see your full credit report alongside your score, so you can clearly see the factors affecting it.
