How do I remove a financial association?

Jasmin | Product Owner | 1 min read | 28 May 2024

No longer associated to that flat mate, spouse, family member or partner? Here's a quick how-to on disassociating from one another:

Step 1

Double-check that all joint accounts are showing as closed on your credit report. If you only closed your account last week, you’ll need to wait for it to be updated as closed on your credit report before a disassociation will work.

Step 2

Find the association on your credit report and click on it.

Step 3

Click the 'Dispute' tab at the top of the pop-up.

Step 4

Answer each of the questions shown on-screen.

Step 5

You'll be prompted to confirm two statements once you have answered the questions. If you're happy that everything you have selected is correct, click ‘Proceed with dispute'.

Your dispute will be raised with the relevant credit reference agency to remove the association from your credit report. You can read more about what happens in the dispute process in Does something look wrong?
