Our Agreement outlines the legal responsibilities for both you and us, so it’s important to review it carefully. You’re welcome to save a copy for your records, though the most up-to-date version will always be available on our website. Checkmyfile reserves the right to amend, vary, cancel, or withdraw these Terms at any time without prior notice to Customers. Our website should be checked by Customers regularly for any changes which apply from the date that they are published.
Definitions:
“Agreement” means these terms and conditions that you’re reading right now;
“Checkmyfile” / “we” / “us” means Credit Reporting Agency Limited.
“Checkmyfile account” / “Account” means the account you register for to access our Services, and which includes your credit score and credit report, as well any customer service we provide.
“Update” relates to updating your credit report through Checkmyfile utilising the 'Update Now' banner that appears at the top of any logged in page.
“Checkmyfile Customer” for the purpose of the prize draw a customer is a person, who has within the Prize Draw, had an active subscription or trial period with Checkmyfile and selected to update their credit report.
The Prize Draw and the Promoter: The prize draw (Summer Prize Draw) is being promoted by 'The Promoter' Credit Reporting Agency Limited (“Checkmyfile”), which is registered in England (company number 3719598) at 20-21 Lemon Street, Truro, TR1 2LS. It is authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (firm reference 690175), notified with the Office of the Information Commissioner (registration number Z6636832) and its VAT number is GB 738 731 215.
Terms: These terms and conditions are the terms and conditions that apply to the August Summer Prize Draw. These terms are published in English; any translations are for convenience by the reader and are not legally binding.
Accepting Terms: By entering the August Summer Prize Draw, an Eligible Customer is deemed to have read and accepted these Terms.
Eligibility: This promotion is open to Checkmyfile customers who are resident in the United Kingdom, aged 18 years or over at the date of entry, that have updated their report within the promotional period and opted in to the 'Summer Prize Draw', excluding employees of the Promoter and their respective family members.
Promotional Period: There will be one (1) draw, in August 2026.
Entry Instructions: To receive an entry in the draw, a customer must have opted in to the Summer Prize Draw and selected to update their report. A customer can opt in by: selecting on the dashboard page of their Checkmyfile account once logged in; or by selecting to opt in, or re-activate their subscription, through a Summer Prize Draw email. Each report update within the promotion period constitutes one entry and the customer must remain opted in to the “Summer Prize Draw” to be notified. Only one entry per qualifying Checkmyfile customer per day within the promotional period. If a customer subsequently wishes to opt out of the prize draw, a request can be sent in writing to help@checkmyfile.com.
The Prize: There is one (1) cash prize of £2,500 to be won in the Summer Prize Draw. Prizes will be paid to the winner by transfer to a UK bank account in the winner’s name.
Winner selection: The winner in a draw will be selected at random from all eligible & valid entries using a random number generator. The prize draw will take place within 7 working days of the end of the promotional period. An eligible Checkmyfile Customer can only win a maximum of one prize in total, and a winner will not be eligible for any further Checkmyfile prize draws within 12 months of a winning draw.
Winner notification: The winner will be contacted by email using the email address registered on their Checkmyfile account and asked to respond within 7 days of the email notification to confirm their acceptance of the prize. In the event that the Promoter has not received a positive response from a winner within 7 days of notification, the originally selected winner will forfeit their rights to their prize. The Promoter reserves the right to select an alternative winner from all remaining valid entries.
Prize Redemption: A winner will have the prize paid into their nominated UK bank account within 30 days of confirming their acceptance of the prize.
Winner Selection: Winner selection is final and binding.
Disqualification: No entries will be accepted other than as specified in these terms and conditions. In the event an individual attempts to secure entries outside of these terms, by any means, they will be disqualified and prevented from entering any subsequent draws.
Transferability and refund: Each prize is as stated, is non-transferable, non-refundable and no alternative is available.
Tax: Any tax payable as a result of the Prize being awarded or received is the sole responsibility of the Winner. If you’re unsure about the implications, we recommend seeking independent financial advice before accepting the Prize.
Representations and Warranties: Checkmyfile makes no representation or warranty in relation to the Prize provided and to the fullest extent permitted by law, shall have no liability to Winners in relation to any Prize, its fitness for purposes, merchantability or otherwise.
General: Checkmyfile is not responsible for any entries which fail to be registered in a draw or are delayed for any technical or other reason whatsoever. Unsuccessful entries in a draw will not be carried forward to subsequent draws.
Use of Personal Data: Personal data of entrants will be used in accordance with the Promoter’s Privacy Policy at https://www.checkmyfile.com/privacy. Checkmyfile relies on its legitimate interests of running promotions as the lawful basis for processing entrants’ personal data. By taking part in this promotion, all individuals successfully meeting the entry criteria in any promotional period agree for their personal data also to be used for the purpose of administering this promotion, except where they have notified Checkmyfile at dpo@checkmyfile.com that they do not want to be entered into the relevant draw.
Presentation of Names and Counties: Checkmyfile may make available the abbreviated names of the winners and counties of residence to members of the public on our website. A winner can object to such disclosure, or request that disclosure of their details be limited in scope by writing to dpo@checkmyfile.com. However, Checkmyfile may, notwithstanding any objection, disclose any relevant information to the Advertising Standards Authority, Financial Ombudsman Service or Financial Conduct Authority if required to do so.
Publicity: Prize winners may be requested by Checkmyfile to take part in reasonable publicity for the promotion and/or their Checkmyfile experience (including by featuring winners’ abbreviated details in Checkmyfile promotional materials).
Validity and Fraud: Checkmyfile reserves the right to verify all entries and to refuse to award a prize or withdraw a prize entitlement and disqualify an entrant where there are reasonable grounds to believe there has been a breach of these terms and conditions or any instructions forming part of the entry requirements or otherwise where a winner has gained an unfair advantage in participating in the promotion or won using fraudulent means.
Contact: Checkmyfile is not responsible in the event that a winner cannot be contacted as a result of having provided incorrect contact details when registering for their Checkmyfile account or not updating their profile information following a change in details.
Operation of the Prize Draw: In the event of circumstances outside the reasonable control of Checkmyfile, or otherwise where fraud, abuse, and/or an error (human or computer) affects or could affect the proper operation of the prize draws or the awarding of the prizes, Checkmyfile reserves the right to suspend the promotion or amend these terms and conditions, at any stage, with no liability to any entrants or third parties, but will always endeavour to minimise the effect on entrants in order to avoid undue disappointment.
Governance and Law: This promotion and these terms and conditions shall be governed by and construed in accordance with English law and the parties to any dispute or action shall submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the English courts.
